Who was Gregor Mendel?
Gregor Mendel was an Australian monk who discovered how heredity worked by experimenting with peas.He was an Austrian Botanist and a plant experimenter. He went to study at the University of Vienna in the year of 1843.When experimenting with the peas he used their height and color to determine what they would look like. His work was discovered in the 1900s by Carl Erich Correns, Erich Tschermak von Seysenegg, and Hugo de Vries.
He experimented on over 28,000 peas.He also experimented on bees using beehives he designed himself. He used peas because they are quick and easy to plant. He used these pea plants and bees to study the passing of traits.Which is called heredity.
